A tragic love story, based on a short story by Joseph Conrad. A shipwrecked Ukranian sailor is rejected as an escaped lunatic by the villagers near where he washes up. However, before long, an attraction develops between him and a young woman - also something of an outcast. This relationship causes considerable consternation in the little English village. Reviews have been mixed.
