Set in a coal-mining village in England, this is the bitter-sweet tale of a
group of miners who play in a brass band at night. When the mine faces closure - with the consequent loss of jobs - despair sets in. Things start to pick up when a lovely young lady returns home to the village and joins the band. The music keeps them together in their battle to save the mine.
